In Your Town!
Our number one question is, "how do I get them established where I live?" Get involved and make a difference in your community! The picture below and the banner above our both examples of what TEAM O2 Member Lisa Beltz from Pennsylvania is doing in her home town!
There is a successful formula, we tell you where to call, who to ask for, and what to say. We help you work through setting up standardization (don't let the word scare you) to figure out the exact number of pet oxygen mask kits needed for your area, then we help you decide how to raise funds and support your fundraiser for you too. It's a tiny commitment with a huge impact on your community!
- Call your local department and ask for the Chief or Assistant Chief on duty. We suggest calling instead of visiting as you may find once you explain what your doing they may want you to speak with someone in a different department, such as EMS. (Emergency Medical Services) *** In regards to who you speak, there is a wide variety of terminology for the boss. You may end up speaking with the Chief, Assistant Chief, the Chief's secretary, Deputy Chief, Captain, EMS or Director. ALWAYS ask for their boss you want as high up the later as you can get! For example: If you are speaking with the Captain, he may be one of six! The Captain of a station may not have the same authorization as his boss, please ask for Chief's office.***
- Keep a log with names of those you have spoken with and numbers. We will need to verify number of kits and department address before shipping to them.
- Ask if they carry Pet Oxygen Masks or if not if they have ever heard about them?
- If they say yes, don't hang up. Find out how many kits they carry verse how many front line engines or ambulances they have. You may be able to further "standardize" that company.
- If the say no, ask first if they know what oxygen masks for pets are and if need be give a short explain that they are oxygen masks for pets. Know your product visit our page "Mask & Kit Info".
- Let them you are working with an nonprofit organization who donates Pet Oxygen Masks to fire departments and other first responders. That the equipment is of no cost to them!
- Let them know that we understand their need for standardization and training and that you are calling to find out the exact number of kits needed to carry them in your home town. You may find that in some cases this pertains to the number of front line engines a company has and in other towns and townships this relates to the number of ambulance services they run. In our section the "nitty gritty" we talk more in-depth about how it is determined which company uses the kits.
- Have the Chief give you a count of front line apparatus's, now that you have determined the number of kits needed, inform them that your intentions are to raise funds for these kits and have them donate to their company.
- Now you have the name and number of the person we need to speak with and the number of kits needed by your local department to establish them in your town.
- Fundraising is next! While this is the part that worries most people this is the part we excel at! If you need one kit. That's $75.00 and you and a couple of your friends might be able to cover that. If you need 4 kits that is a total of $300.00 you may be able to raise those funds by printing flyers and asking for donations from co-workers. If you find you need 30 kits or over $2,000.00 in funds first of all don't panic. We have donated a number of $10,000.00 grants, it's just a matter of time.
- Fundraising for your area is done on a per request basis for your local department. Straight donations are not earmarked for specific areas.
- We are available to give suggestions on how funds can be raised! From garage sales, bakery sales to simply asking for local financial assistance. When it comes to dollar amounts that seem out of your reach, don't let that sit you back, "contact us" and we will be more than happy to tailor a fundraiser for your specific needs.
- We are here to help you every step of the way. All of your fundraisers will be advertise by us on our social media pages for you too!
- You may find that something on the "how you can help" page that can help you get to your goal.
- Once the funds are raised we will order your kits, get them prepared and ship them directly to your local department.
- All media social and print will give credit to the TEAM O2 Member who started the project, all those who donate and then to our foundation.
- So you want your picture with the kits? There are reason we don't deliver outside of their intended designation. You can read more about that in the "Nitty Gritty" section of this website.
